Of course a contractor or householder hears these kind of messages everywhere they turn - whether it’s saving money on house insurance or using sustainable materials, there is always pressure to look at options, get the best deal and make the biggest difference.
The reality is we don’t all have the time to do this, and this need for efficiency, along with quality, service, and compliance with UK legislation, are always at the forefront of the product development process at Fernco Environmental. The result is two systems – for rainwater harvesting and for surface water soakaway.
The Stormbreaker Soakaway is a modular system assembled using 0.4 cubic metre kits. Each kit contains the geotextile, the adhesive tape, and installation instructions, and the system’s modular set up is suitable for virtually any location and any depth of dig.![]()
Importantly though, the system goes a long way toward compliance with Part H of the Building Regulations, which lists the use of a soakaway as the preferred method of managing excess surface water. There are several methods of creating a soakaway though, and of course the storage volume has to be proportional to the surface ground area. Conventionally, a truckload of aggregate would be used – but why excavate 3 cubic metres and use 4.8 tonnes of stone, when 1 cubic metre of Stormbreaker weighing 67kg holds the same volume of water?
Also designed with ease of purchasing and installation in mind, is the Stormbreaker Rainwater Harvesting system. This high spec product contains everything you need, with a host of installation and operation benefits besides. The system is also preassembled, containing a stainless steel submersible pump, leaf filter, calmed inlet pipe, pedestrian duty cover, cabling, a compact control unit, a low level sensor, the list continues… Who wants to arrive on site with a set of bulky components in separate packaging, perhaps arriving on separate deliveries from different suppliers? Installation, maintenance and commissioning services are also available.
